About this role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Volunteer SEO Manager to join the Mautic community's Marketing Team. In this role, you will be helping Mautic to grow by monitoring, maintaining, and improving Mautic's search engine optimization (SEO) efforts. Your expertise will help enhance our online visibility, drive more organic traffic, and contribute to the overall growth of our project. We are estimating that this role would require in the region of 2-4 hours per week as a baseline commitment.

This role is pivotal in amplifying Mautic’s online presence at a time where interest in our open source product is growing strongly, and ensuring that our valuable resources reach a broader audience. As the Volunteer SEO Manager, your expertise will significantly impact our visibility, driving more organic traffic and fostering greater engagement within our community. Beyond the technical aspects, you will have the unique opportunity to build, lead and inspire a dynamic team of individuals from around the world who are passionate about Mautic’s growth. By mentoring and collaborating with team members, you will create a supportive environment where everyone can learn and grow together, ultimately contributing to the success and sustainability of our open source project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and Analyze: Regularly review Mautic’s website traffic, performance metrics, and SEO ranking. Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other SEO software to provide actionable insights.
  
  
• Maintain SEO Health: Conduct ongoing keyword research, competitive analysis, and site audits to identify areas for improvement. Ensure that all web content adheres to SEO best practices.
  
  
• Content Optimization: Collaborate with content creators to optimize existing content and on-page elements, including titles, meta descriptions, headers, and internal linking structures.
  
  
• Technical SEO: Work with our website working group to address technical SEO issues, such as site speed optimization, mobile-friendliness, and crawlability.
  
  
• Collaborative Working: Efficiently communicate and collaborate with other team members, including developers, marketers, and content creators, to ensure a unified SEO strategy.
  
  
• Reporting: Provide regular updates on SEO performance, including traffic trends, keyword rankings, and task progress.

About you:

• Experience: Ideally we'd love you to have some experience in SEO and familiarity with web content management systems (CMS), such as Drupal and WordPress or similar platforms.
  
  
• Technical Skills: It would be awesome if you had a good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to SEO.
  
  
• Analytical Skills: Some proficiency in using SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, ScreamingFrog or similar tools would be really helpful.
  
  
• Collaborative Spirit: Probably the most important is having strong collaborative working skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams in a remote setting - we're all volunteers and we're all working remotely, outside of our annual community sprints where we come together to work on tasks in a physical location.
  
  
• Communication: It's super important that you have good verbal and written communication skills to effectively share insights and recommendations, and that you can explain technical details clearly to those who may not have the same knowledge and skills you do.
