What is your background with Mautic?
I have been involved in the Mautic story since May 2019 when I first met Ruth at the Acquia Engage Europe conference in London. As this is when the big announcement of Mautic being acquired by Acquia was first made, I better understood the key role that Mautic played in Campaign Studio and the value that Acquia saw in Mautic’s future. After this I spent time to better understand the product, community and followed it on social media and blogs since then.
Over these years I spoke to Mautic community members and spoke to them about their experiences, and continued to follow their progress. I was particularly proud to see friends of mine (Dominic de Cooman and Mikko Hämäläinen) attend and speak at Mauticon India.
I am the Founder & Managing Director at 2Toucans, where we offer our web design and development to our clients in sectors including charities, membership associations, education and small businesses. My leadership role has involved building relationships with clients and prospective clients, to whom I have offered Mautic services to..
This led me to attend Mauticon Lisbon, to learn more about the product, community so I can better help spread the word to everyone I know.
What contributions have you made to Mautic?
I joined as an individual member and contributed financially to the project, and intend to for the future. As my company grows its involvement with Mautic, I aim to also join as an organisation member hence my interest to become a council member.
I have hired Mautic community members to work on projects due to their experience with Mautic as contributors, which has helped with community sustainability.
At Mauticon Lisbon, I contributed to the marketing sprint by listening to challenges, and coming up with ideas during our brainstorming session.
After this I conducted research by scheduling calls with several attendees to find out what they thought of the event, better understand their experiences and the wider ecosystem. This helped me to identify where the opportunities and shortcomings are and how I might be able to help to solve them.
Once home from the conference, I also made a commitment in the marketing slack channel to help with content creation and promotion. I have also been connecting with other community members in Africa, Asia & South America to better understand their views and ideas and how I might be able to bring them to reality.
I have spoken to my existing clients, prospects and partners about the benefits of Mautic and how it can be adopted in their projects.
I have also shared information about Mautic during presentations delivered to students at colleges and universities. I have also given presentations to colleagues of mine at 2Toucans.
I have also indirectly contributed to Mautic by contributing to other open source projects and promoting them, including PHP, Drupal, Lagoon (hosting), Rocket Chat (messaging) & Plane (project management).
What is your vision for Mautic?
I would love to see a wider adoption of Mautic by more organisations, who continue to gain the benefits of using lower cost open source tooling. This adoption will drive more income to making Mautic not only financially sustainable, but healthy and better able to have projects and initiatives to help democratise access to the software, and attendance to meetups and conferences for those in parts of the world where costs can be prohibitive.
I’m particularly keen to see and drive adoption in charities, education and government which are areas I have a lot of experience working with and embrace open source, freedom, privacy and lower costs more than many others do.
Ideally it would not only be the most relevant Open Source Marketing Automation solution, but grow to become an industry leader in its own right. With strong global community, full of supportive individuals and contributors.
What do you bring to the Mautic Community Council?
Financial sustainability, growth & sales experience
When I saw that recent finances haven’t been as strong as previously expected, this saddened me, but also inspired me to take action to help. I have a strong network and believe that I can help come up with new ideas and drive initiatives to assist the financial sustainability of the project and community, and have lots of ideas I’d like to discuss and look at implementing with the council.
Connected to this, I helped with getting sponsors on board to sponsor in-person events too.

Varied background
I have experience working as a developer, technical lead, technical consultant and project manager all of which assist the council. In addition to this, I also have a lot of experience working with sales, marketing, networking, finance and operations in my previous work as a freelancer for 18 years and more recently as a digital agency leader. I am closely involved with the growth of the business via several communities and partnerships and these could benefit the Mautic community council too.
Board experience
I also have experience of serving on two boards with larger teams which will bring value:
Council Member on the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Council for the British Interactive Media Association I have helped to organise several events to help showcase diversity in tech, including refugee talent, women into tech, digital and creative industries, and neurodiversity and physical disabilities. I intend to serve the Mautic council with all the experiences gathered from above mentions. Here is an example of an event that I organised and spoke at https://www.linkedin.com/posts/chandeepkhosa_bimabreakfast-talent-dei-activity-7262744976839659520-u9PF
I am also a Board Member for ICT for the South London Employment & Skills Alliance which consists of representatives from local government, careers hubs, further and higher education and businesses. Our goal is to help match up these different services to lead to better learning and employment outcomes for local residents.
In this role, I advise, and help give ideas and input into their plans, strategies and policies by representing the voice of microbusinesses, ethnic minorities, freelancers and self-employed individuals. They have communicated that they appreciate my ideas on several occasions. This has led me to be given an opportunity to represent them by speaking at an event in January to encourage more businesses to help with their initiatives in the community.
Marketing & partnerships
I can assist with marketing and my large network of connections. This is demonstrated from my 30,000 connections on LinkedIn. Many of these are in multiple different countries and industries, which can help the wider adoption of Mautic from many different types of stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to developers, technical implementors, marketers and clients of all sizes. You can see my LinkedIn profile here https://www.linkedin.com/in/chandeepkhosa
In February, I will be delivering a talk “Rethink Diversity in tech beyond gender: race, refugees, social background & neurodiversity” at a developer conference in Sweden too where I will also discuss the great work being done by the Mautic community in these areas https://www.swetugg.se/sthlm-2025/speakers/chandeep-khosa#rethink-diversity-in-tech-beyond-gender-race-refugees-social-background-neurodiversity
I am also a member of local chambers of commerce, the British Interactive Media Association and agency owner networks which could prove to be very useful.
Open source community experience
I’ve been a member of the Drupal community for 17 years as a developer, technical lead and open source contributor. During this time I worked on projects for the United Nations, Oxford University, Cambridge University and Canadian government and delivered training to UNICEF Switzerland and United Christian Broadcasters. Over this time, I gave talks at over 30 Drupal events, in addition to delivering 2 keynote talks in Poland and Moldova too. You can see more of my contributions here https://www.drupal.org/u/chandeepkhosa
I assisted with introducing the first marketing sprint to a DrupalCon in Vienna which was very exciting. Particularly seeing how those seeds that we planted continued and still continue to blossom. I also helped to market the outputs of this too https://medium.com/@ChandeepKhosa/my-experiences-at-the-drupal-marketing-sprint-at-drupalcon-vienna-ee92be0ec9a
Understanding new potential contributors
On several occasions I was invited to join Twitter & LinkedIn audio spaces to advise audiences of people trying to break into their first jobs in tech. I can help with my experience of training and mentoring apprentice developers since 2014, and subsequently creating internships for people transitioning into tech. I have a unique understanding of the needs and desires of these groups and how we might be able to leverage them in creating new contributors to Mautic to help them to stand out against other candidates and land their first fruitful jobs in the tech sector.
Recently I have given talks to coding bootcamp students and graduates which I was told were inspiring and motivational, and believe that this could represent a big growth opportunity for the community.

Global outreach
I can communicate in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Hungarian and Punjabi and always enjoy any opportunity I get to practice my language skills. This will help in building relationships with the wider community.
I am a strong believer and advocate for diversity which can be demonstrated from the global diversity of my team at 2Toucans.
Event organisation
I have organised developer meetups, in addition to events for business audiences, including finding and introducing speakers, and being on panels. This can benefit organising events and finding, and preparing nervous speakers.
Project management
I have been responsible for large, complex projects with many stakeholders which could prove yourself, including scheduling meetings, creating tasks and following up on progress. This could help with assisting the organisation of sub-groups.
Why should community members vote for you?
For all of the reasons I mentioned in the previous section, in addition to me bringing a fresh perspective, lots of ideas and am a confident communicator. I think that all communities benefit from a mix of established people driving them, mixed in with newer individuals who bring fresh ideas, perspectives, energy and optimism. I believe I can do precisely that.
In addition to this, as I have a very globally diverse team, with colleagues in South America, Asia, Africa & Europe. I believe that their local insights with our co-ordination could help to better understand the needs of local cultures and getting help with translations too. Our coverage of multiple timezones could prove very useful at times where speed to act is important, in addition to helping to market and distribute communications. I have also lived in South America & Asia for several months and have gained a better understanding of local life there too. I can be the bridge between your world and mine, and advocate for you in a unique way. I look forward to scheduling coffee chats with you to better understand your needs, ideas and communicating them in a formal way on your behalf.
