About the Mautic World Conference (MautiCon) 2026
Mautic World Conference 2026 is the next in the series of flagship events organised by the world's first open source Marketing Automation project, Mautic, designed for inspiration, education, and networking. It is a one-day in-person event which empowers both new and existing Mautic users and marketing automation enthusiasts worldwide to learn, grow and succeed.
As part of the planning team, we’re looking for a Volunteer Design Lead who will own and shape the visual identity of the conference.
This is a remote volunteer role, ideal for a designer who enjoys collaborating with global teams and translating ideas into compelling visual stories.
Role Overview
The Volunteer Design Lead will be responsible for developing and maintaining the conference’s visual identity across all platforms. You will work closely with the events and communications team to ensure the branding is cohesive, engaging, and aligned with the conference vision.
Key Responsibilities
Own and develop the branding and visual identity of the conference
Design promotional assets for social media, including posts, stories, and banners
Create design materials to support event promotion and audience engagement
Collaborate with the planning team to translate written concepts and ideas into visual designs
Ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints leading up to the event
Work within timelines and adapt designs based on feedback from the team
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who:
Is a strong visual storyteller with a good eye for detail
Can confidently translate words and concepts into compelling designs
Is an excellent communicator and comfortable collaborating remotely.
Can work effectively and lead a team across multiple time zones.
Is organised, responsive, and able to manage deadlines independently
Has experience designing for events, brands, or digital platforms (preferred, not required)
Timelines and Expectations for this Role
Q1: Creating the brand kit and social media kits
Q2: All preliminary design assets are ready
Q3: Final event assets are ready
Q4 (October): Final print runs
Required Knowledge and Experience
Solid understanding of visual branding and design principles
Experience creating digital design assets for social media and event promotion
Ability to translate written briefs and abstract ideas into clear, compelling visuals
Familiarity with designing for online platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, web)
Basic understanding of brand consistency and visual storytelling
Experience collaborating remotely with cross-functional teams (preferred)
Preferred Background
Background in graphic design, visual communication, creative arts, or related fields
Prior experience working on events, conferences, campaigns, or community projects
Experience designing for international or multicultural audiences
Students, early-career designers, or mid-level creatives building a global portfolio are welcome
