#MauticCampaignLibrary Innovation in Action: Establishing Mautic's Campaign Library
Campaign Library phase 1 delivery - weekly update 28 Mar
Hi all
Project name: Campaign Library Phase 1
Status: 🟢 On target
In our sprint review on Monday we talked as a team about how we would work through the last stages of the project: testing and code review. Unlike a lot of smaller enhancements to Mautic, this piece of work will be delivered as one large chunk of code, and so from a governance perspective is classified as a 'level 3' change, meaning it requires 2 testers from separate organisations and 1 code reviewer in order to qualify to be a part of the codebase. Mautic is fortunate to have an active community of people who are willing to volunteer their time and expertise to help along project work and so I have been able to reach out to people to understand who can help.
Unlike traditional project management, where the PM's job is all about trying to anticipate potential problems and as far as possible prevent them from happening, in an open source setting there are a few unusual challenges to overcome. Primarily, a large number of people contributing to the success of Mautic are unpaid volunteers. Unlike a commercial software organisation, which typically has a dedicated QA team who have processes and people in place to support delivery, an open source organisation relies on some key individuals and the willingness of the community to contribute their time and expertise. I have spent time this week making sure we have a plan for testing and we have commitment from the right people to help us execute this plan. We are all very committed to delivering as good a product as we can, and using the testing phase to find any issues before they become too embedded in the product.
Fortunately we have had technical oversight and review throughout, which means we can have some confidence about the 'shape' the solution has taken. Also we continue to add valuable functionality. In the last week, feature to enable multi-campaign import and export and to work through updating previously imported campaigns have been delivered.
Fingers crossed, next week should see us get to development complete on the project with two further sprints of testing and bug fixing before completion. Onwards!
Thank you
David
