Join us for the kick-off meeting of the Mautic Awards Working Group, where we will lay the foundation for celebrating excellence within our community. This meeting will bring together people who want to be involved in the team to kick off planning and organizing the inaugural Mautic Awards, set to take place at Mautic Conference Europe in November 2024.
We will outline our objectives, review the proposed award categories and criteria, and strategize our promotion efforts. Additionally, we will discuss the logistics of the awards ceremony itself, and create a timeline to ensure a successful and impactful event.
Hop in and join us if you want to get involved!

Notes
- Awards event announced at Mautic Conference Global in the keynote: https://www.mautic.org/blog/community/announcing-inaugural-mautic-awards-will-you-be-taking-center-stage
- Ruth shared the vision for the event - to celebrate success with Mautic, to gather more case studies, to bring people to the in-person conference as well.
- Robert asked if there was a date/venue suggested yet? Ricardo shared we haven't yet decided on the specific day / location
- Favour: Perhaps we should consider having it after the second day to encourage people to stay for the whole event.
- Robert: We should figure out how many are shortlisted, plus the panel and judges, plus conference attendees and figure out the numbers from there. Then we can find the venue and figure out the price for the tickets.
- Probably should be around a 50 euro price point (think about the average price of a meal in Lisbon plus drinks etc)
- Should we charge people to apply? It could be an option - often awards do this where you have to pay a certain amount per submission - it'd be a revenue stream for Mautic potentially.
- Simran: Perhaps we could say that members get one free submission and have to pay an amount for each subsequent submission, or we could make it so that non-members have to pay more than the entry-level membership in order to submit (e.g. $1500)
- Tickets should be charged and cover the cost of the event
- For reference, TYPO3 awards https://t3con23.typo3.com/awards
- Dinner tickets are $200 per person
- Simran shared: https://bima.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/BIMA-Awards-2024-entry-pack.pdf
- Dinner tickets around £300 ish
- We should be mindful of the size of our community and the likelihood of being able to afford those prices
- Should we do first, second and third / winner/runner out? It would give us more opportunity to celebrate people
- Could also do informal shoutouts for people who for example have done the best docs PR, best PR review, best event etc submitted by team leads, for example
- Let's make a budget for a cost estimation which will give us a sense of what we need to make from ticket sales
- We think 50 should be a good number based on the number of awards, nominees, panel, leadership/council etc.
- It'd be great to make it really desirable to be there - something you aspire to get a ticket for.
- ACTION: Create a Google Sheet to start working on a budget (Ruth)
- Location scouting: Need to find the right venue for hosting the event, perhaps we should find someone who can do the scouting for us to find the right venue?
- ACTION: Make the specification document of the kind of requirements we have for the venue
- Photos/red carpet on arrival
- ACTION: Robert to research to see who we can find to do this for us and get a cost estimation
- Bigger picture plan / timeline - Action: Ruth and Simran to work on this and detail the specific jobs and responsibilities, and determine what is required.
